About the Chicago Bar Association Alliance for Women

Founded in 1874, the Chicago Bar Association (“CBA”) is one of the oldest and most active metropolitan bar associations in the United States. The CBA’s voluntary membership of 22,000 consists largely of lawyers and judges from Cook County and the State of Illinois. In early 2005, the CBA’s Alliance for Women invited Chicago law firms to join its “Call to Action,” a project to promote women’s leadership in the legal profession. The Alliance realized that without a focused effort from the leadership of law firms, the progress of women into leadership positions in the legal profession would remain immaterial.
