For employers, dealing with employees has never been more challenging or more risky.  The weight of new and changing employment laws and regulations, the uncertainties of how those changes will be implemented,  an obvious pro-employee/pro union administration in Washington, the aggressiveness of employees, former employees, and the attorneys and unions that represent them--all of this makes it more essential than ever before for human resources professionals to take a careful look at their company's practices, policies, procedures and overall approaches to dealing with employees.

This program will provide an up-to-the-minute discussion of many of the changes that have taken place in the employment area in the last 12 months, together with a discussion of the most common mistakes made by employers, the mistakes--often easily avoidable--that frequently lead to unnecessary but very costly consequences.

Specific topics will include:
  • Areas targeted by the federal government for increased audit and enforcement against employers
  • The most recent changes in employment discrimination legislation and regulations, including rules and policies applicable to leaves of absence
  • The top 10 administrative pitfalls and how to avoid them
  • The latest on the Employee Free Choice Act and changes at the National Labor Relations Board
